POMONA -Candidate for Pomona City Council District 6 Miranda Sheffield announced today that she will host a social justice roundtable discussion with Pomona Community Leaders and Los Angeles District Attorney Candidate George Gascon. The announcement comes on the heels of Sheffield actively rejecting consideration for endorsement from the Pomona Police Union and highlights her dedication to bringing lasting police reform to our community.
“By rushing to seek the endorsement of the Pomona Police Officers Association, my opponents in this race have shown that they care more about political power than the Black and brown lives that continue to be destroyed by officers under the protection of their unions. I have taken a much different path.” said Sheffield. “I believe in public safety, but I also believe in accountability and oversight for our officers and Pomona will never see the reforms our community wants when we have City Council candidates taking money from police unions. It’s time to create a better future for Pomona and I thank D.A. Candidate Gascon and Pomona community leaders for joining me as we share our vision for reform and justice.”
